Q: What inspired you to start writing?
In 1997 I had been a veterinarian for 25 years and had obtained some important experiences and accompanying knowledge. I felt honour bound and a strong desire to get it all written down. There's a fuller account here: https://www.thepetfoodcon.com/raw-meaty-bones-promote-health-the-story-behind-the-story/

Q: Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
My latest book, number 4 in the Raw Meaty Bones Tetralogy, provides a blow by blow account of ten important years in the struggle against the junk pet food/veterinary industrial complex. https://www.thepetfoodcon.com/spin-doctors/

Q: How do you create your characters?
I write non-fiction. So the characters represent themselves.
-
Q: What does your typical writing day look like?
The maximum I can spend on writing is 3 hours in a day. Writing is an exhausting task, although when engaged in it, I tend to be in a somewhat trance-like state. It's only after I stop that I realise how drained I feel.
-
Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
Satisfaction of having completed what to me felt like obligations.
-
Q: What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Insufficient exposure and then hoardes of opportunists who misappropriated key information, mangled it and promoted their madcap theories -- creating for them much power, prestige and profit. All the while, as mentioned without exposure, the real story remains untold.
-
Q: Do you have any favorite writing tools or apps?
These days, for articles and website publications, I find ChatGPT to be a terrific companion and advisor.
-
Q: What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
If you're in possession of important factual information, then make a plan to get the information out to a dependent public.
-
Q: How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
I have a London publicity agent and write articles, maintain a website and write endless letters.
-
Q: What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
Next for me is to concentrate on promoting the Cybernetic Hypothesis. https://www.thepetfoodcon.com/cybernetic-hypothesis-of-periodontal-disease-in-mammalian-carnivores/ My most recent book, Spin Doctors: Junk Pet Food Parners in Crime was published in April 2026. https://www.thepetfoodcon.com/spin-doctors/

Q: Why does the world needs to know about the Raw Meaty Bones Tetralogy?
Because in the West about 50% of households own a pet that has teeth and gets fed. But the world over all of us have teeth and eat food. So the RMB Tetralogy has relevance for everyone.
Two of my books, Raw Meaty Bones and Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud were likened to Silent Spring the book that kickstarted the environmental revolution. Ultimately I believe the Tetralogy will come to be recognises as an important contribution.
