The history of Mars is definitely most unusual and full of weird twists and turns unlike anything we Earthers could possibly imagine.  And, most definitely, there were (and still are) monsters there - on the moons, Phobos and Deimos, to be precise.   

Alex Faraway has been having many more unsettling dreams lately; dreams of a past life that, until a week before, were merely the stuff of a storyteller’s fantasy.  But no, these dreams feel much too real - alive, even, and the lonesome boy-genius is starting to talk in a most peculiar way as well; and hear voices from those dreams, even after waking.  Alex is slowly changing, and not in a normal way at all.  His one friend, Rainah Onyodee, flew off to Mars just the previous week, and Alex is growing anxious waiting for his long-absent father to return as promised.
